Just sharing a couple of beverage recipes, since it's a party season. The intention is to blog once or twice a week. But then Diwali. The first one used to be common summer cooler growing up in a Sindhi home. But I don't see that being made any more. It's one of my favorite's. Mogra (Jasmine) sherbat. The second, my Australian favorite, Lemon Lime Bitters aka LLB. Both easy to make and party favorites. So is this song. Festival favorite. Surma laa ke bethi. Gajra pa ke bethi.

Mogra Sherbat

1 lt water

1 kg sugar

3 strings of (gajra) / 250 gm of Jasmine flowers

1 leaf of edible silver

Boil the water with sugar. Once the sugar is dissolved, remove the vessal from fire. Add the jasmine flowers and cover with lid. Let it soak overnight. Stain the liquid into another bowl. Sprinkle in the silver leaf. Bottle and store. Should be used within 2 weeks.

To serve add one part of the syrup with 4 parts of chilled water. Top it with a little soda if you like some fizz.
